Customizing the Job Application Form
Set each field to Required, Optional, or Off in the What applicants submit card.
You decide what each applicant has to send you. Maybe you require a resume but leave a cover letter optional, and skip the fields you do not need. AvaHR lets you set this per job so the application form matches the role.
Where to set it
Application fields live on Step 1: Job basics in the What applicants submit card, whether you are creating a new job or editing an existing one.
Set each field
For each field, choose one of three options:
- Required: the applicant must include it.
- Optional: the applicant can include it, but does not have to.
- Off: the field is left off the application form entirely.
The fields you can configure are:
- Resume/CV (defaults to Required)
- Cover letter
- Phone number
- Address
- LinkedIn URL
- Portfolio URL
- Website URL
Click an option to select it. When your choices look right, continue through the wizard and save the job so the changes apply.
Tips
- Keep the form short. Every extra required field is one more reason a good candidate might drop off. Ask only for what you truly need to make a first decision.
- Want to ask role-specific questions too? Attach a Screening questionnaire on Step 2: Description instead of piling more fields onto the form.
