# Creating a Job Description Template

## Save reusable job-post text with merge fields under Settings \> Templates.

A job description template is reusable job-post text you can drop into any new job, so you do not have to rewrite it or paste from a document each time.

### Create a template

1. Go to **Settings**.
2. Under RECRUITING, select **Templates**.
3. Open the **Job Description** tab.
4. Click **New template** and choose **Job description**.
5. Give it a name and write the description in the body.
6. Insert merge fields (like  or **{}**) so the text personalizes itself when you use it.
7. Save the template.

### Use it on a job

When you post or edit a job, reuse the template on the Description step instead of starting from a blank page.

### Template vs. Generate with AI

A template is text you wrote and saved to reuse. **Generate with AI** is different: it drafts a fresh description for you from a few details on the Description step. Use whichever fits, or start from a template and tidy it up.
