# Adding a Department

## Group your team by function and organize your jobs.

Departments group your team members by function and help you organize your jobs. Once a department exists, you can assign it to a job so everything stays sorted.

### Add a department

1. In the left sidebar, go to **Settings**.
2. Under COMPANY, select **Departments**.
3. Select **New department**.
4. Give the department a name and save it.

### Manage departments

Each department shows its name and a member count. Use the edit and delete controls on a department to rename it or remove it when it is no longer needed.

### Use a department on a job

When you post a job, choose the department on **Step 1 Job Basics**. You can post as many jobs to a department as you like.

**Tip:** Set up your common departments first, so they are ready to pick the moment you post a new job.
